Jordan proud to be part of the launch of Google StreetView in South Africa

Jordan Wine Estate is one of twelve premier South African wineries chosen to be part of Google Street View. Google Street View will enable visitors to take an intimate look at the winelands. Google Street View went live from 8 June 2010.

“We are delighted to be part of this exciting venture to bring the beauty and diversity of our country closer to the people,” said Gary Jordan. “Google Street View allows you to feel part of Jordan Wine Estate – view our vineyards, the cellar, our amazing views and the Jordan Restaurant without leaving your home. It is a must see for wine lovers globally!”

Julie Taylor, Communications Manager for Google South Africa, said: “This is a first for Africa, and a really exciting development for South Africans, who can now explore their country in new ways, whether a local neighbourhood in the city or a scenic costal route theyve never seen. But its also going to be a massive bonus for the tourism industry, especially with all the international visitors arriving in South Africa.”

To access Street View images, go to http://maps.google.com, type the address into the maps search bar, or zoom into where you want to go, and drag the orange “Pegman” icon on the left-hand side of the map onto a blue highlighted street. To learn more about Street View, visit www.google.co.za/streetview. The site is available in English, isiZulu and Afrikaans,
