Cape Town Transport for the FIFA World Cup 2010

The City of Cape Town will offer visitors and residents safe and easily accessible public transport during the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ from 29 May to 17 July and continuation of the airport shuttle. Rail, bus, minibus taxi and metered taxi services will cater for a wide variety of transport requirements, and will ensure that Cape Town Stadium in Green Point, the FIFA Fan Fest™ on the Grand Parade, as well as the public viewing areas (PVAs) at the Bellville Velodrome, Oliver Tambo Sports Hall in Khayelitsha, Swartklip Sports Hall in Mitchells Plain, and Athlone Civic Centre are adequately served.

Event-related public transport will be added to the regular public transport system. Existing rail, bus and minibus taxis will extend their services to cater for the increased demand around match times.
Information on regular public transport is available on the 24/7 Transport Information Centre’s toll-free number, 0800 65 64 63. A public transport route finder will also be available from May 2010 on www.capetown.gov.za/transportinfo.
